Who runs this site

The site is operated by an editorial team based in New Zealand with backgrounds in construction, property development, and technology. We are not a QS firm, do not compete with the practices listed, and do not accept payment from firms for editorial placement or ranking position.

Where our directory data comes from

Listings are compiled from two publicly available sources:

• Google Places — used for business names, phone numbers, addresses, websites, and public review scores. Star ratings and review counts are attributed to Google and reflect data captured at our last enrichment run.
• NZBN (New Zealand Business Number) register — used to cross-reference legal trading status, registered names, and NZBN identifiers where a match is available.

We do not currently offer a claim-your-listing workflow. If you are a listed firm and want a correction, additional detail, or removal, please contact us.

How our editorial content is written

City pages, cost guides, and blog posts are drafted by our editorial team drawing on published sources including NZIQS commentary, Stats NZ consent value trends, tender feedback, and public regional construction market reporting. Where we cite specific benchmark rates, we surface the source note alongside the table. Where we describe local market conditions, we draw on named, publicly reported factors — not private commercial data.

Cost figures should be treated as planning benchmarks. Actual project costs vary with site conditions, specification, procurement route, and the current subcontractor market. Always confirm a project-specific number with a QS before committing to design or finance.

How we are funded

QuantitySurveyors.co.nz operates as a lead-matching directory. When a homeowner or developer requests quotes through our contact form, we introduce their brief to up to three suitable QS firms. Our costs are covered by the firms we match projects to, not by directory listing fees or advertising. Rankings on city pages are ordered by public Google review data and are not for sale.

A note on independence

Every firm on this site is listed on the same terms. We hold no equity in any listed practice, take no editorial direction from any firm, and do not display sponsored positions. If we ever introduce sponsored listings, they will be labelled clearly and separated from editorial ranking.
